Sri Aurobindo's Message (August 14, 1947):
On August 14, 1947, Sri Aurobindo delivered a historic message on All India Radio titled 'My Five Dreams'.
His first dream was the freedom and resurgence of India, accompanied by the joy of freedom on one side and the sorrow of the nation's partition on the other.
In the message, he noted that while India gained independence, it had not yet achieved complete unity, raising fears that the country might return to a chaotic state of separate princely states as it was before British rule. Fortunately, that danger was averted, creating an opportunity for a powerful and vast unified India to emerge.
He expressed hope that through the Constituent Assembly's visionary and firm policies, problems of backward communities in society would be resolved without any conflicts.
He also expressed concern that the religious divide between Hindus and Muslims might make the partition permanent, though he hoped this state would not last forever and would find a permanent or transitional solution.
Consequences of Prolonging Partition:
If this division is prolonged, India could become severely weakened and lose its efficiency.
The constant danger of internal conflicts, new invasions, and foreign rule could recur, potentially harming India's internal progress, prosperity, and international standing.
Her historical mission and future goals could be hindered or completely blocked, which must not be allowed to happen; therefore, the division of the nation must be undone.
Path to Re-Unification:
We must hope this happens naturally, meaning through peace and goodwill, people intensely realizing the necessity of unified action, putting that collective action into practice, and creating the corresponding structures and methods.
Ultimately, in whatever form, a unified Bharata (Akhanda Bharata) will emerge again, and by whatever path, this division must be removed.
For India's future greatness, a unified Bharata (Akhanda Bharata) is essential and will definitely be created.
